Travel and Hotel Information

Here is some useful information concerning travelling to and in Zürich as well as suggested hotels.

Arriving in Zürich

From Zürich Airport to Zürich City

Zürich Airport is directly connected by train to the main station (Hauptbahnhof/Zürich HB). In the terminal building, follow the railway signs to the underground station. Trains to Zürich leave about every 10 minutes during peak periods and the travel time is about 10 minutes. From Zürich Hauptbahnhof you can then walk or take a tram to your hotel.

Alternatively, to get from Zürich Airport to ETH or hotels close by you can take the tram number 10. This takes approximately 30 minutes.

You can also take a taxi (about CHF 100) to the city center, which might take longer than public transport as the traffic to and from the airport is usually subject to congestion.

Other airports

The Euro Airport (Basel) has a good train connection to Zürich. For information on the train connections between Basel and Zürich you can make use of the website of the SBB.

By train

There are various international trains connected to Zürich HB. For details see for example the website of the SBB.

To the conference

Conference venue

Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule
Campus Zentrum, CAB G11
Zürich, Switzerland

To the conference venue

From most hotels in the inner city of Zurich the conference location can be reached on foot. You can also take trams 5, 6, 9, 10 or 11 to “ETH/Universitätsspital”. There is the charming “Polybahn” cable car from “Central” to “Polyterrasse” as well. You can plan your trip on the website of the ZVV.

Public transport

When using trains and public transport, please remember to purchase a ticket before boarding. Tickets are available from vending machines in the halls of train stations or at bus and tram stops. For planning your travel by public transport around Zürich and for detailed ticket information you can make use of the website of the ZVV.

Typically a day pass (“Tageskarte”) is the best option if you are planning two or more rides: it is valid for any number of rides within 24 hours after punching for the price of two single rides. For central Zürich (zone 110) the day pass is CHF 8.60. A single ride between Zürich and the airport (zones 110+121) is CHF 6.60.

We have made block reservations with special rates in the following hotels.
